“Patients come to me in pain needing someone who will not only listen but be able to discern the problem, what has caused it and to be able to do something promptly to help. I use the various techniques I have learnt over the years to encourage each patient’s own healing process, all aimed at reducing pain and increasing mobility.
You need skill to use these techniques to be gentle, yet effective. I empower each patient to be involved by taking measures to reduce re-occurrences of the problem. I enjoy the challenge of a chronic, complex pain problem and liaise with other practitioners to ensure the patient’s long-term recovery. ”

I initially asked Katie for help because I was scared of running down hill in slippy conditions, this came on suddenly after years of not even thinking about it. Katie also helped me address some chronic deep seeded issues with self confidence and low-esteem, so not only did she help me with my primary problem, that actually became super easy to solve, she helped me in my everyday life. This included helping me to find the confidence to change jobs, as well as giving me the tools to unlock potential in my running capabilities. I went from a runner that needed to be assisted by two other runners to walk down a hill to a confident runner down hill and across mud! So much so that I got selected to race in Brussels for the Iris Lotto Cup twice, won the Sodbury Slog and set new course records in Fell racing! Hypnotherapy also gave me new found confidence in my road races capabilities too and more importantly gave me the skills to learn how to relax and switch off from work in the evenings. Katie changed my life and gave me the tool to take control and feel empowered.

Sports Massage is for both sports persons and non-sports persons alike. It is an effective form of treatment to relieve pain, treat injuries as well as a preventative treatment dealing with the health of muscle and connective tissue. Blood supply is increased, releasing tension, flushing through lactic acid and realigning scar tissue. Aiding in range of movement, tone, symmetry balance of muscle and quality of posture. I work instinctively to ensure the best results with minimal discomfort tailoring treatment to the individual.
Sports Massage or Sports Soft Tissue Therapy involves many options for the elite, amateur or novice athlete. Though sports massage helps athletes to prepare their bodies for optimal performance, with an emphasis on the prevention and the healing of injuries to muscles and tendons. You don’t have to be an athlete to benefit from Sports massage, including people in physically demanding jobs and those not quite so obvious (occupational, emotional and postural stress may produce many similar characteristics to sports injuries). Sports massage assists with pain, restricted movement and specific problem areas.
Sports massage tends to be deeper and more intense. It is based on the various elements of Swedish massage and often incorporates a combination of other techniques involving stretching, compression, friction, toning, and trigger point response techniques similar to Acupressure and Shiatsu. The skilled therapist brings together this blend of techniques, knowledge and advice during treatment, to work effectively with the client to bring about optimum performance and to provide injury-free training and minimise post event injuries.
The type of massage will depend entirely upon each individuals needs.
Pre-event sports massage — a short, stimulating massage 15 – 45 minutes before the event. It is directed toward the parts of the body that will be involved in the exertion.
Post-event sports massage — given within an hour or two of the event, to normalize the body’s tissues.
Pre-event and post-event massage therapies are tailored for distinct purposes.
Restorative sports massage — given during training to allow the athlete to train harder and with less injury. These sessions may involve assessment of range of motion, pain limiting factors and then addressing these issues that are adversely affecting Performance treatment in these sessions involve all types of soft tissue (massage) techniques and stretching
Rehabilitative sports massage — aimed at alleviating pain due to injury and returning the body to health.
Even with preventative maintenance, muscles cramp, tear, bruise, and ache. Sports massage can speed healing and reduce discomfort during the rehabilitation process.
Soft tissue techniques employed by sports massage therapists are effective in the management of both acute and chronic injuries.

Cas Bourne-Jones, Psychotherapist
I am very pleased to join The Lansdown Clinic as a Psychotherapist in Training and am able to offer affordable psychotherapy in a safe, confidential and welcoming environment.
Coming from a humanistic and integrative perspective enables me to work with you in offering a compassionate and accepting therapy in order that we can explore hidden, buried or distressing experiences. Sometimes we meet difficult challenges and relationships in our lives, which could form unhealthy blocks to our normal happy and healthy living.
We may –
- have buried or unwanted feelings that keep resurfacing causing pain and suffering
- be struggling in coming to terms with loss and grief
- have a desire to understand our anger, frustration or fear
- be facing depression or anxiety which has become too much to bear
People explore therapy for many different reasons, which are unique to the individual. Therapy can help in rebuilding new pathways to knowing ourselves. I am offering an empathic listening space for you to be heard, my presence on a safe and trusting journey and my commitment to issues around connection and identity.
Psychotherapy can be long term and open ended or time limited – this is a personal decision and we can work together on deciding what best suits your needs. I believe that when one can find trust and dialogue in the therapeutic relationship, there is an opportunity for creativity and healing.
Whilst in private practice, I am studying for an MA in Humanistic & Integrative Psychotherapy at BCPC, Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling. BCPC is a professional body, which is accredited by UKCP, United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy, of which I am also a trainee member. I am legally bound in following their Codes of Ethics and Practice.

Holistic Aromatherapy Massage
Deep Tissue Massage
An holistic aromatherapy massage is a natural treatment designed to affect the whole person (body, mind and spirit) not just the symptom and to assist the body’s natural ability to balance, regulate, heal and maintain itself by the correct use of essential oils. Essential oils are naturally extracted aromatic essences from plants which carry profound healing properties. By using essential oils in massage, the natural energy of the plant will be absorbed by the skin to help the body heal and restore. Massage relieves pain and anxiety, stimulates the blood circulation and tones our body systems. The scent of the essential oils will stimulate the emotions and further encourage an individual’s innate healing process.
Tessa received her Diploma in Aromatherapy and Essential oil Science with Classical and Holistic massage in 2008 after qualifying studies with Neal’s Yard Remedies in Covent Garden and has since then, through active practice, seen the many benefits that aromatherapy massage can have on our health.
In 2009 she became a certified practitioner of Deep Tissue Massage.
Tessa is a full member of the International Federation of Professional Aromatherapists.
